The New York Rangers informed Steve Yzerman and the other NHL executives exactly how much time they have left to make a trade offer for Artemi Panarin.

After sending an official letter to fans in which he confirmed massive changes were coming to the organization, Rangers GM Chris Drury told Artemi Panarin that they wouldn’t offer him an extension, making him a free agent at the end of the season.

Since then, Panarin has been considered the top player available on the market ahead of the trade deadline.

But now, a new development suggests a trade will happen very soon.

Rangers Worked the Phones Last Night to Trade Panarin, Still Hope to Trade Him Before Olympic Roster Freeze

After that deadline, organizations won’t be able to complete trades, which suggests a wave of deals could get announced in the next few hours.

NHL insider Renaud Lavoie confirmed that the Rangers are actively looking to trade Panarin before the deadline.

In a post on X, he also revealed the team has been trying hard to trade him last night:

The Wings are among the teams with enough cap space and trade assets to get Panarin off the Rangers’ hands.

If Yzerman wants him, he’ll need to make an offer soon.

Stay tuned for updates, as a trade could go down imminently.
