Penguins goaltending prospect Taylor Gauthier stopped 53 (yes, 53) of 55 shots faced in the Nailers’ 3-2 overtime win against the Fort Wayne Komets on Wednesday. He improved to 8-4-2 in the ECHL this season with a .937 save percentage and a 1.81 goals-against average. The win brought Gauthier three wins from sole possession of the Nailers’ all-time wins record.

Gauthier is only 24 years old, and would be the first recall to Wilkes-Barre if a goaltender is needed now that Filip Larsson is gone. Definitely don’t count him out as a prospect.

Matthew Quercia and Connor Lockhart scored the goals in regulation, and Brent Johnson scored the game-winner in the extra frame.
