The Toronto Maple Leafs will be involved in plenty of trade rumors in the weeks ahead.

It’s probably safe to assume Auston Matthews, William Nylander and John Tavares won’t be.
Why?
Their contracts.
Specifically, all three of them have full no-move clauses in their contracts, according to Sportsnet’s Jason Bukala.
Nylander’s runs through the end of his deal in 2032.
Matthews’ contract runs out after the 2027-28 season.

And for Tavares, his no-move clause stays intact until the end of next season, then it becomes only a partial no-move clause with certain teams on the list.

For now, though, it would make things particularly tough.
Since all three star forwards are under contract years into the future, Toronto doesn’t need to sell low on a top scorer during a down year.
Instead, the Maple Leafs can settle in knowing that this trio will be in town for years to come.
It’ll be about building up around these guys to make the Leafs into a contender again.
No-move clauses aren’t impossible, of course. A player just has to approve of a deal, like Artemi Panarin did Wednesday to go from the Rangers to the Kings.

That certainly adds a whole extra layer to trades, though, and with guys like Nylander, Matthews and Tavares, it seems highly unlikely Toronto would seek them to change their setups right now.
