Season series: Penguins lead 1-0, a 4-3 home win on Oct. 9
The Penguins lost 3-2 at home Monday night to the Ottawa Senators as a slight underdog (+102) as the Under (6.5) cashed. RW Yegor Chinakhov had a goal and an assist in the losing effort. Pittsburgh had its 6-game winning streak snapped, as well as an 8-game point streak. The Pens are still 7-1-2 across the past 10 outings, with the Over going 6-3 across the past 9 games.
The Islanders lost 4-1 as slight dogs (+110) on the road at the Washington Capitals Monday as the Under (6.5) cashed. C Mathew Barzal gave New York a brief 1-0 lead with an unassisted goal at 16:38 of the first period, but G David Rittich allowed 3 goals, with the Caps also adding an empty-net goal. The Isles have lost 2 in a row, while going just 3-4-0 in the past 7 games. The Under is 5-2 in the past 7 outings, too.

Stuart Skinner (19-12-4, 2.72 GAA, .892 SV%, 2 SO) vs. Ilya Sorokin (17-13-2, 2.51 GAA, .914 SV%, 5 SO)
After Arturs Silovs started Monday in the loss to the Senators, Skinner is all but certain to start Tuesday. He allowed 5 goals on just 20 shots last time out, but he helped the Pens to a 6-5 win Saturday. He has won 5 in a row, while going 7-1-0 with a 2.13 GAA and .910 SV% in his past 8 starts.
Sorokin is confirmed to start Tuesday. He is looking to rebound after giving up 4 goals on 42 shots in a 4-3 loss at home to the Nashville Predators Saturday. He was 6-3-0 in 9 starts in January, and like Skinner, had a 2.13 GAA, while turning in a .931 SV% with 3 SO.
Penguins at Islanders picks and predictionsPrediction
Islanders 3, Penguins 2
The ISLANDERS (-120) are worth playing at home as slight favorites against the Penguins. New York has lost 2 in a row, so this is anything but a sure thing. But, with both teams playing on no rest, we should get a low-scoring game in favor of the home side, especially with Sorokin back in the crease.
The Penguins +1.5 (-235) will cost you more than 2 times your potential return, and that’s way too much risk for not nearly enough return if you need some insurance, and can’t take Pittsburgh straight up.
AVOID, and just look to the moneyline instead.
UNDER 6 (-110) is a strong play.
Both teams are coming in on no rest, and both teams are traveling for this game. While neither had a particularly long journey, travel is travel.
The Islanders have gone low in 5 of the past 7 games, and they have cashed the Under at a 7-0-1 clip in 8 games this season with no rest.
For the Penguins, the Over has a 5-4 edge in 9 games with no rest this season. The Under is 4-3 in the past 7 road games, too.
