Following the Boston Bruins game against the Florida Panthers on Wednesday evening, the Boston Bruins have assigned forward Matt Poitras to the Providence Bruins.
Poitras skated in the three games leading into the Olympic Break for the Boston Bruins following injuries to Pavel Zacha and Elias Lindholm. He scored a goal in the Stadium Series game agaisnt the Tampa Bay Lightning and was +1.
Prior to the call-up, Poitras had skated in 39 games for the Providence Bruins, tallying 24 points and -3. He is having a slightly down season after being a point-per-game player in 2024-25.
Matt Poitras is a restricted free agent at the end of the season. He also changed agents earlier in the year, preparing for a new contract negotiation. With Poitras still not having solidified a spot on the Boston Bruins roster, it will be interesting to see if a change of scenery is in his future. While the Bruins remain in the buyer’s market, Poitras could bring back value in a trade.
