An insider has revealed which veteran players are most likely to be traded by the Vancouver Canucks as the club continues to push forward with their plans to rebuild.
With the National Hockey League’s roster freeze now in effect for the 2026 Winter Olympics, the Vancouver Canucks and other clubs will need to wait until Sunday, February 22nd at 8:59 p.m. PT (11:59 p.m. ET) to complete any trades.
“We may end up saying no to offers, certainly, but we’re not going to say no to having conversations about any player. This is about improving this team without taking shortcuts.” President of Hockey Operations Jim Rutherford said.

As mentioned, Vancouver’s priority is to move their pending unrestricted free agents, including Evander Kane, Teddy Blueger and David Kampf, before the deadline on March 6th, but they’re pretty much open to anything and if the right offer comes across Patrik Allvin’s desk, he’ll consider it.
“For now, we know that the Canucks are ‘listening.’ And I can add that among this veteran group of eight players, I sense that Garland — whose no-move clause doesn’t kick in until July 1 — and Boeser should be considered the most likely of Vancouver’s veteran players who could realistically be moved before the deadline.” Drance said.
Moving on from Garland before his no-movement clause comes into effect makes a lot of sense for the Vancouver Canucks and there’s already been some interest in him from teams around the league, including the Boston Bruins, dating back to late November.
However for Brock Boeser, who is in the first year of a seven-year deal worth $7.25 million annually, the Canucks might have a bit of tougher time trying to trade him as the six-time 20-goal scorer has struggled offensively and with that much money & term remaining on his deal, some teams might be a bit hesitant.
We’ll have to wait and see what materializes before the deadline, but if the Vancouver Canucks have teams calling them up for Boeser and Garland and are receiving offers with assets for the future (prospects & picks) that’ll help with the rebuild, Patrik Allvin needs to seriously consider it.
