Bo Horvat netted his second goal of the game 52 seconds into overtime as the Islanders beat the visiting Pittsburgh Penguins 5-4 on Tuesday night. New Jersey lost its second in a row and fell for the fourth time in five games, dropping a 3-0 decision to the visiting Columbus Blue Jackets on Tuesday night. Jakob Markstrom made 22 saves in the loss, and center Jack Hughes missed the game with a lower-body injury. He is unlikely to play on Thursday.

New York has won the first three meetings against the Devils, taking a 3-2 overtime win at New Jersey on Nov. 10 before home-ice victories of 2-1 on Dec. 23 and 9-0 on Jan. 6. Horvat tops the Isles with 23 goals, with Barzal and Schaefer each netting their 16th on Tuesday. Barzal leads the club with 50 points while Ilya Sorokin is 19-13-2 with an NHL-leading six shutouts, a .915 save percentage, and 2.48 goals against average.

Nico Hischier’s 18 goals and 41 points are the best for the Devils, while Timo Meier checks in with 14 markers. Markstrom is 15-13-1 with an .882 save percentage and 3.20 GAA.
