A trade proposal between the Detroit Red Wings and the Columbus Blue Jackets has just emerged online that suggests the Wings could acquire the Jackets’ captain.
The Columbus Blue Jackets appeared poised to make some trades ahead of the deadline.
However, since they made a head coach change, replacing Dean Evason with Rick Bowness, the team has performed well, winning nine out of their last 10 games and climbing back up to fourth place in the Metropolitan Division.
Despite the recent great stretch, the Blue Jackets are still involved in a lot of trade rumors.
A recent report suggested the team could even part ways with their captain, Boone Jenner, in a deal with the Detroit Red Wings.
Blue Jackets Send Captain To Detroit In Proposed Trade
In a new report, a trade scenario was put on the table that states Jenner could be shipped to Detroit in return for 2026 first- and third-round picks, as well as top prospect Shai Buium.

Buium, drafted in the second round of the 2021 NHL Draft by the Wings, has yet to make his NHL debut.
The six-foot-three, 22-year-old defenseman tallied two assists in 10 games with the Griffins this season after suffering an injury in training camp that forced him to miss the first half of the season.
As for Jenner, the 32-year-old veteran center tallied 27 points, including eight goals, in 41 games.
He is set to enter free agency at the end of the season, when his $3,750,000 AAV contract expires, meaning it would be surprising to see the Wings trade for him unless there’s an extension in place.
