Vancouver Canucks head coach Adam Foote has given a new update on centerman Filip Chytil after he was forced to leave Monday’s game with an undisclosed injury.

Chytil would go on to suit up in five games with the Canucks during the remainder of January, however in their first contest this month against the Utah Mammoth, he was forced to leave after two periods, with head coach Adam Foote telling reporters afterwards that he was hoping it’s not a head injury.

“While the team initially did not give a reason for why Chytil left the game, head coach Adam Foote said post-game that the forward had “tweaked something.”

When asked a follow-up if the injury was related to Chytil’s history with concussions, Foote replied: “I hope not.”” Sportsnet shared.

While meeting with reporters after practice on Tuesday, Adam Foote shared that Filip Chytil will not be in the lineup on Wednesday against the Vegas Golden Knights, their final game before the Olympic break, adding that he’s currently dealing with migranes.

“Filip Chytil is unlikely to return to the #Canucks lineup for their final game before the Olympic break. He’s dealing with migraines, according to head coach Adam Foote.” Thomas Drance of The Athletic said.

This is obviously a concerning update on Filip Chytil and it’s going to be interesting to see how the Vancouver Canucks approach bringing him back into the lineup, depending on how he’s feeling, or if it’s time to consider shutting him down for the remainder of the 2025-26 season.

Thankfully both sides have plenty of time to see how this plays out and how he feels on a day-by-day basis because after today, the Vancouver Canucks aren’t back in action again for three weeks – Wednesday, February 25th – so there’s always a chance he could be back to 100 percent and good to go by then.

For now, the Canucks need to ensure that he’s been looked after each and every day and monitoring his symptoms, but as mentioned, given his history, it’s understandable that there would be some concern from both the team and their fans about the 26-year-old.
