J.T. Miller’s latest comments ahead of the NHL’s break for the 2026 Winter Olympics in Italy are causing more frustration among fans of the New York Rangers.
The National Hockey League’s Olympic break couldn’t come at a better time couldn’t come at a better time for the New York Rangers as they sit at the bottom of the Eastern Conference and have already begun their retool by trading Carson Soucy to the New York Islanders and Artemi Panarin to the Los Angeles Kings.
For now, former Vancouver Canucks forward and current New York Rangers captain J.T. Miller isn’t expected to go anywhere as according to TSN’s Pierre LeBrun, the club won’t be asking him to waive his no-movement clause.
“What I was told today is that Miller has no intention of waiving his no-move clause, and the Rangers have no intention of going to him and asking to waive it. They traded for him last year, they made him captain, and they still believe in the reasons why they made that move. Miller should not be part of whatever exodus of players leaves New York.” LeBrun said recently.
J.T. Miller’s latest comments causing more frustration for New York Rangers fans
Following last night’s shutout loss at the hands of Brandon Bussi and the Carolina Hurricanes, J.T. Miller met with reporters and was asked what the message is to the team heading into the Olympic break and the put it bluntly, saying “I don’t know”.
“I don’t know. We need to come back with a better mindset. It hasn’t been good enough the last little while, so just try to regroup and freshen up. I don’t know. We just need to enjoy or take time – I literally don’t know. Come back with a better mindset I guess.” Miller said.
As expected, New York Rangers fans expressed their thoughts with J.T. Miller’s comments and well, some of them weren’t too happy and want to see more of a better effort from their captain going forward.
“Dude says the same speech every day but plays the same way every game.” @sachen2 said.
“”I don’t know” spoken like a true gritty captain.” @RuudEric said.
“He has no drive, no leadership skills, and he’s the captain. Bring back Mess to give him a masterclass on leadership!!” @AGunusen said.
Thankfully for J.T. Miller, he’ll get some time away from the Rangers and be in a more positive atmosphere with the United States at the 2026 Winter Olympics in Milano-Cortina, Italy as they chase their first gold medal since 1980 in Lake Placid.
