The men’s hockey tournament at the Olympics opens on Wednesday and runs through Feb. 22 in Milan, Italy.

Rickard Rakell and Erik Karlsson are the lone Penguins in action on the opening day of the tournament, as they take on Italy at 3:25 p.m. Eastern in a game that will be aired on the USA Network.

Sidney Crosby and Canada play their first game on Thursday against Czechia at 10:40 a.m. on the USA Network, and Arturs Silovs and Latvia play a 3:10 p.m. game on Thursday against the U.S., also on the USA Network.

In addition to those playing in the tournament, Kyle Dubas is Canada’s director of player personnel and Penguins strength and conditioning coach Sean Young is serving in the same capacity for Canada. Penguins video coach Madison Nikkel is the U.S. video coach.

There’s plenty of former Penguins to watch in the tournament, too — Jake Guentzel and coach Mike Sullivan with the U.S., Olli Maatta and Mikael Granlund on Finland, Jan Rutta on Czechia, Teddy Blueger on Latvia, Lars Eller on Denmark and Dominik Kahun on Germany. Additionally, former Penguins forward prospect Frederik Tiffels is playing for Germany, former goaltending prospect Filip Gustavsson is on Sweden, former Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguin (and Robert Morris alum) Justin Addamo is on France, and former Nailer Renars Krastenbergs is on Latvia.
