Michelob ULTRA has proven to be one of USA Hockey’s biggest sponsors as they embark in the 2026 Milano Cortina Olympic Winter Games — going as far to host NHL alum and former USA Hockey star T.J. Oshie in the company’s commercial at the rapidly approaching Super Bowl LX.

The commercial is entitled “The ULTRA Instructor” and brings together Hollywood icon and Herb Brooks actor Kurt Russell alongside Oshie, Olympic gold medalist Chloe Kim and actor Lewis Pullman. The ad is centered around reminding Super Bowl watchers of the Winter Olympics in part of Michelob’s robust campaign to celebrate Team USA. The 60-second spot is about hitting the slopes with a fun competitive spirit around peers.

Oshie was chosen specifically by the company to represent the hockey community and is rightfully described as a NHL champion. The retired right-wing won the Stanley Cup for the 2017-18 season.

He is also a shootout expert; Oshie went four for six in his shootout attempts during the 2014 Sochi Olympics, including the game-winner, to help defeat Team Russia 3-2 and secure the Americans a bye into the tournament’s quarterfinals.

T.J. Oshie thrilled for USA Hockey Recognition at Super Bowl LX

The 2014 Winter Olympics resulted in Team USA finishing in fourth place and was the last time NHL players were allowed to compete in the Olympics.

Oshie remains one of a handful of players who have scored on more than 50 percent of their shootout attempts since the league adopted the tiebreaker in 2005. He announced his retirement in June of 2025 after 16 seasons.

The forward said a company as big as Michelob ULTRA stepping up for USA Hockey represents the current trajectory of USA Hockey.

“What a great thing for hockey,” Oshie said to The Sporting News. “I couldn’t be more humbled and appreciative that they selected me to be in this commercial. I think it shows you how far hockey has come. And I think hockey is really building a lot of momentum here and I can’t thank Michelob ULTRA enough for having me step in there.”

Oshie had 695 points (302 goals, 393 assists) in 1,010 NHL regular-season games with the St. Louis Blues and Washington, and 69 points (34 goals, 35 assists) in 106 Stanley Cup Playoff games.

He scored at least 20 goals six times, including an NHL career-high 33 in 68 games in 2016-17. Oshie quickly became a fan-favorite across the league, and has often been known for his high-energy both on and off the ice.

“What an amazing experience … It was a really cool, eye opening experience, being on a set like that,” Oshie added to SN on filming the commercial. “I was just so ecstatic when my agents called and told me [about] this opportunity. [I said] ‘show me where to sign.’ It was a a cool, eye-opening experience, being on a set like that. That’s not something the hockey players typically do … I’m super humbled that they chose me to represent Team USA in a Super Bowl commercial with the Olympics coming up.”

Oshie will also cover the upcoming Olympics as a broadcaster for NBC.

The 2026 Winter Olympics marks the return of NHL players to the coveted international tournament for the first time since 2014.

The Team USA men’s ice hockey team at Milano Cortina is headlined by stars such as Jack Eichel, Auston Matthews, Clayton Keller and power forward Tage Thompson. Six players were previously named to the initial men’s Team USA roster back in June, consisting of forwards Jack Eichel, Auston Matthews, Brady Tkachuk, Matthew Tkachuk and Minnesota Wild defensemen Quinn Hughes and Charlie McAvoy.

USA hockey has won two gold medals, eight silver medals and one bronze medal in the men’s tournament at the Olympics. They last won silver in 2010 and last one gold in 1980.

The United States men’s team opens the 2026 Winter Olympics tournament against Latvia on Feb. 12.
