Afanasyev scored twice in AHL San Jose’s 7-3 win over Abbotsford on Friday.
Afanasyev had a seven-game point streak snapped Wednesday, but he bounced right back. The 25-year-old winger is still waiting for a chance with the big club, but he’s earned nine goals and 22 points over 35 outings this season. He had 54 points in 56 regular-season contests in 2023-24 and spent 2024-25 in the KHL.
