The Charlotte Checkers had to settle for a weekend split with the AHL-leading Grand Rapids Griffins, who beat them 5-2 last night at Bojangles Colsieum. Robert Mastrosimone, from Wilmer Skoog and Trevor Carrick, and Riese Gaber scored the goals for the Checkers. Kirill Greasimyuk took the loss, stopping 16 of 19 shots faced.
