Some new projected lines released this weekend have revealed a big role for Vancouver Canucks’ Elias Pettersson at the 2026 Winter Olympics with Team Sweden.

Vancouver Canucks fans will have several of their own players to be cheering on over the next couple of weeks including forward Elias Pettersson, who has a lot to prove at the Winter Games as he looks to take some positives away from this tournament to help him for the final two months of the NHL’s regular season.

“Pettersson has a similar opportunity to rebuild some of his value and whether that leads to a trade or just allows him to generate some momentum to close out the season remains to be seen. Sometimes when a player like Pettersson is in a difficult situation for a couple of years, it can do a number on their confidence. In Milan, Pettersson is going to be playing with and against elite players everywhere he turns, so if that doesn’t bring out his best, it’s probably time for the Canucks to be very concerned about how his contract is going to age.” Michael Amato of Sportsnet said.

Projected lines reveal Elias Pettersson’s big role with Sweden at 2026 Winter Olympics

Amalie Benjamin and Tom Gulitti of NHL.com have Elias Pettersson centering the second line for Sweden with his wingers being Filip Forsberg of the Nashville Predators and Lucas Raymond of the Detroit Red Wings.

Filip Forsberg — Elias Pettersson — Lucas Raymond
Adrian Kempe — Joel Eriksson Ek — Rickard Rakell

The 2026 Winter Olympics are a big opportunity for Elias Pettersson to get his game back on track and being surrounded by other stars in a positive environment could do him wonders, especially if the Swedes are able to make push for the gold medal game, which is exactly two weeks away.

Elias Pettersson and Team Sweden will open up their preliminary round schedule on Wednesday at 12:10 pm PT against the hosts, Team Italy. Fans can watch from coast to coast on CBC, CBC Gem and Sportsnet.
