The Vancouver Canucks are still looking to trade Evander Kane, as part of their rebuild and goal to get younger, while in the beginning it seemed Kane would go for a decent return, now it seems like the asking price isn’t so high anymore.

“Even though the Canucks claim that they will “be busy” once the NHL Roster Freeze is lifted, the whole season has proven that moves and upgrades are not the strong suit off Patrik Allvin, making it that much harder to trade Evander Kane, who has severely disappointed since being traded by the Edmonton Oilers.”-Jaxon

Evander Kane might not yield a great return for the Vancouver Canucks.

NHL Rumour Report posted on X NHL insider Elliotte Friedman’s view on Kane’s potential asking price from the Canucks. And it isn’t very impressive, with only a mid round pick and they still have to retain some salary.

“Elliotte Friedman: Re Evander Kane: I think they’d do a mid round pick and [salary] retention – Donnie & Dhali (2/2)

Kane has been on the trade block for months, and the Canucks have even gone as far as to say they will retain the majority of his salary, but even with that GM’s are paying little to no attention to him, it should make Kane realize how low he has brought his stock this season.

The only real need for Kane to be traded at this point is to make more room in their salary cap hit. But when you are in a rebuild, it’s rare you are pushed against the cap, meaning trading Kane isn’t a do or die situation, but ideally it would be good to get at least half his salary off the books.
