Another week has passed, and it’s time for another LA Kings‘ weekly prospect update. This week’s update was highlighted by forward Koehn Ziemmer, who registered a hat trick in his only game played in the week with the Ontario Reign (AHL).
Although the Reign had three games scheduled during the week, Ziemmer only suited up for one, and it was a memorable one. In his lone game of action, Ziemmer recorded a natural hat trick and five shots on goal in the Reign’s 4-3 victory over the Bakersfield Condors on home ice.

It’s been an unusual season for Ziemmer as he is transitioning from junior to professional hockey. He hasn’t played every day, isn’t playing top-six minutes, or being used on the power play like he was in juniors, but has put in a lot of work with his character, work ethic, and care as a first-year pro, according to his Head Coach, Andrew Lord, after the game.
“You saw the shots tonight, but his play away from the puck has dramatically improved here over the season. I think that’s a testament to the effort he puts in. Whenever you have a great guy like that with his character, work ethic, and care, you want to see him get rewarded,” said Lord.
