Detroit Tigers, Red Wings enter broadcast partnership with MLB

  • February 9, 2026

DETROIT. (WILX) – The Detroit Tigers and Red Wings will partner with Major League Baseball to broadcast both clubs’ games, the teams announced on Monday.

The MLB recently announced it was prepared to step in as a broadcast partner for the Tigers and eight other MLB teams due to financial problems at Main Street Sports Group, owner of the FanDuel Sports regional networks.

Monday’s announcement said in part, “Maintaining consistency with years past, fans within the Clubs’ home television territory will be able to watch Tigers and Red Wings games through the same options that have been recently available. Information on cable/satellite providers and direct-to-consumer streaming subscriptions will be communicated at a later date… Aside from games selected to be national broadcasts, Tigers and Red Wings games will air throughout our market—available to everyone through either a cable or satellite package or streaming subscription.”

MLB will produce and distribute Tigers games beginning this upcoming season.

As for the Red Wings, Ilitch Sports + Entertainment, which owns both teams, “will assume broadcast production duties, while MLB assists with production processes. Red Wings coverage on FanDuel Sports Network is expected to continue through the end of this season. Additional details regarding the 2026-27 season will be announced when available.”

The release also stated that both teams intend to keep their current broadcast teams together: for the Tigers, Jason Benetti, Dan Dickerson, Andy Dirks, and Dan Petry; and for the Red Wings, Ken Daniels and Mickey Redmond.

There is no information right now on where this leaves the Pistons, who are not owned by Ilitch, and broadcast locally on FanDuel Sports Network Detroit.
