The Vancouver Canucks are going to have a big decision to make regarding injured forward Marco Rossi following the National Hockey League’s Olympic break.
It’s been a long season for the Vancouver Canucks as injuries have plagued this team from the moment training camp began in Penticton all the way back in mid-September.
Aside from Thatcher Demko, the Canucks have a handful of other players on the sidelines at the moment including Brock Boeser, Zeev Buium, Filip Chytil, Nils Hoglander and Marco Rossi, who suffered a setback in his recovery just before the Olympic break.
“Patrik Allvin says #Canucks being careful with Rossi, who is back skating, but he’s likely out until after Olympics.” Jeff Paterson of Canucks Army said.

Knowing that the club sits last in the National Hockey League’s overall standings and there isn’t much to play for between now and the end of the regular season, other than ensuring they land a top-three draft pick, Blake Price and Jeff Paterson spoke about the potential of the Canucks shutting down Marco Rossi for the remainder of the 2025-26 campaign.
“It does also put undue pressure perhaps on what they do with Marco Rossi for the rest of the year, again, do you just put him in bubble wrap and ice him for the rest of the year? Like you need him to be 1000% for training camp, not because you’re pushing for the playoffs but you want the players to be on a linear progression here, you don’t want Marco Rossi to come back struggle to be himself because he’s playing through injury and playing at 80%.” Price said.
Shutting down Marco Rossi wouldn’t be a bad idea for the Canucks to consider, although it’ll depend on how he is when the team returns to the ice next Tuesday for their first practice since the Olympic break began.
If Rossi isn’t able to participate or take contact and it’s going to be another two-to-three weeks before he can play again, then it’ll be time to have the conversation about shutting him down for the remainder of the regular season.
