Martin Pospisil reunited with World Championship linemates at Slovakia’s first Olympic practice
A fourth-round pick by the Flames way back in 2018, Pospisil has managed to battle back from a slew of injuries over his pro career to carve out a pretty solid NHL career thus far. And his performances both with the Flames and with the Slovak men’s national team have earned him a spot on Slovakia’s Olympic team for this year’s games!
Per Dennik Sports’ Tomas Prokop, Pospisil had a pair of familiar linemates in Monday’s practice: San Jose Sharks winger Pavol Regenda and HC Dynamo Pardubice winger Milos Kelemen. The trio were an effective line for Slovakia during the 2024 World Championship.
“The guys know that I use a physical game and I try to use it in training as well. Maybe they are a little wary of me, but I try to finish the fights cleanly, because as they say, in training, so in the match.”
“I want to pass on the same energy to the guys and prepare 100 percent for the match,” said Martin Pospíšil firmly.
Via Prokop, here’s how Slovakia’s lines looked on Monday:
Juraj Slafkovsky – Adam Ruzicka – Tomas Tatar
Milos Kelemen – Martin Pospisil – Pavol Regenda
Adam Liska – Dalibor Dvorsky – Libor Hudacek
Samuel Takac – Matus Stukel – Oliver Okuliar
Extras: Peter Cehlarik, Lukas Cingel
Martin Fehervary – Simon Nemec
Martin Gernat – Erik Cernak
Martin Marincin – Peter Ceresnek
Michal Ivan – Patrik Koch
Samuel Hlajac
Stanislav Skorvanek
Adam Gajan
Slovakia’s men’s team is slated to practice again on Tuesday before playing in the opening game of the men’s tournament on Wednesday against Finland. (That game is slated for 8:40 a.m. MT.)
