Gomez, a longtime Laguna Beach resident, first laced up his skates at the age of six, transitioning quickly from roller hockey to the ice. With years of dedication and training behind him, he recently capped off his high school journey under the guidance of former NHL player Kevin Bieksa, who coached Fairmont Prep’s team to a state championship and a second-place finish at the National High School Championships this year.

“Coach Bieksa has been instrumental not only in Jonathan’s athletic development but also in helping him grow into a strong young man,” said his mother, Erin Hill.

Now signed with the Canmore Eagles, a junior A-level team based just outside Banff, Alberta, Gomez is preparing to take his game to the next level in one of Canada’s premier junior hockey leagues.

For Launa locals planning a winter ski trip, catching a Canmore Eagles game might offer a chance to cheer on a hometown athlete on Canadian ice.

“Congratulations, Jonathan,” Hill said. “We’re so proud to have you represent Laguna Beach next season.”
