MILAN — For the first time in 12 years, NHL players will hit Olympic ice on Wednesday, Feb. 11 in Milan. With the opening face-off on deck, let’s look at the full breadth of the tournament and the 2026 Olympic men’s hockey schedule.

The three teams in The Sporting Tribune coverage area will be well represented across seven of the 12 nations in the Olympic men’s hockey tournament:

Anaheim Ducks (6): Jackson LaCombe (USA, defenseman), Mikael Granlund (Finland, forward, captain), Lukáš Dostál (Czechia, goaltender), Radko Gudas (Czechia, defenseman, assistant captain), prospect Damian Clara (Italy, goaltender)

Los Angeles Kings (5): Drew Doughty (Canada, defenseman), Darcy Kuemper (Canada, goaltender), Adrian Kempe (Sweden, forward), Joel Armia (Finland, foward), Kevin Fiala (Switzerland, foward)

Vegas Golden Knights (7): Jack Eichel (USA, forward), Noah Hanifin (USA, defenseman), Mitch Marner (Canada, forward), Mark Stone (Canada, forward), Shea Theodore (Canada, defenseman), Tomáš Hertl (Czechia, forward), Akira Schmid (Switzerland, foward)

The 12 national teams will be split into three groups, which will play round-robin from Wednesday, Feb. 11 through Sunday, Feb. 15:

Group A: Canada, Czechia, France, Switzerland
Group B: Finland, Italy, Slovakia, Sweden
Group C: Denmark, Germany, Latvia, United States of America

The three group winners and best second-place team all advance directly to the quarterfinals, while the other eight teams play in a qualification playoff round. The qualification playoffs are Tuesday, Feb. 17 with the quarterfinals on Wednesday, Feb. 18. The semifinals will follow on Feb. 20 with the bronze medal match on Feb. 21 and gold medal game on Feb. 22 to close the Milano-Cortina Winter Olympics.

In the United States, all Olympic men’s hockey games will be streamed live on Peacock with a large selection of the games broadcast on USA Network and a handful on CNBC. Big network NBC will broadcast one quarterfinal match-up, one semifinal and the gold medal game.
