Article contentOTTAWA SENATORS DIVING TEAM

I love watching hockey and have been doing so for many years.

When I watch the Ottawa Senators, I watch with interest the number of times they spend sprawled on the ice, trying to draw penalties. Is that really the way to try and win a game? I checked the stats and Ottawa is third in the NHL for power-play opportunities per game.

Maybe some of the players should try out for the Olympic dive team. They would probably have a good chance of making it.

GIVE TAXPAYERS A BREAK

Re: Taxed by debate; Council divided over vacant unit fee, Feb. 6

Instead of inconveniencing every property owner in the city (by forcing them to declare a property’s occupancy status), why don’t they get utility companies to send them a list of properties that aren’t using water, electricity or any other service?

We’re constantly being asked to do the work of people who get paid to do it, and it seems there’s no level of government that isn’t happy to slap yet another tax on our right to simply exist.

Enough already.

By the way … when it comes to potential transit refunds, I might not use transit in this city (it doesn’t come out to my neck of the woods except for Thursday morning), but we’re still charged for it, so all taxpayers should receive a rebate for the lack of service that’s called “transit.” We all pay one way or the other, and this whole LRT system has been a bust from the get-go.

CHAMPAGNE SHOULD CHANGE BILL

After listening to Finance Minister François-Philippe Champagne on the committee regarding Bill C-15, he demonstrated once again his special skill at providing misleading, arrogant and condescending non-answers.

To me, he seems to give off this aura of believing he is the absolute smartest person in the room. I’m not the only one who can see right through his BS. Why can’t he just do the right thing and agree to remove the egregious section of the bill that allows the PM or ministers to circumvent any conflicts of interest.
