Remember these guys, Seth Jarvis’s buddies from Winnipeg? Well, they were supposed to come to Raleigh to hang out with Jarvis over the Olympic break. Now they’re literally going to the Olympics. Yeah, Jarvis’s crew made headlines when they drove to Boston from Canada for the Four Nations tournament. 30 hours in their buddy’s mom’s SUV. Then in the playoffs, the NHL got them to Raleigh, and now with some help from Air Canada and social media, they are going to the Olympics. I caught up with Brian Hannah who was getting ready to fly to Italy tomorrow. It’s surreal. It’s kind of one of those like pinch me moments, but then like just the fact that he, like we get to share this with him and he’s OK having us out there and letting us be a part of it is like an unbelievable moment for us and him, I’m sure. Just letting us kind of live vicariously through him, you know, you know he’s super self-deprecating. Um, but I know this means a lot to represent his country. I mean, can you kind of put that into words, what you think this means to him and to people back home in Winnipeg? This is something that like as a young Canadian child, you play mini sticks in the basement, you’re like picturing yourself as Sidney Crosby or one of those Canadian players, like scoring a golden goal, and the fact that he’s, he’s even, like initially was even in the conversation of going on this trip with this team is unbelievable now that the fact, the fact that he gets to do it is. Huge for all of us, huge for his family, huge for him, huge for the city of Winnipeg too, just because we’ve all grown up, known to love him, seen him skating around the outdoor rinks, it’s just pretty cool for everyone. Jarvis, an injury replacement for Team Canada. Canada has a preliminary game versus Chechnya Thursday at 10:40 a.m.
