The Utah Mammoth are looking to be competitive come these Stanley Cup Playoffs, and they will need a little more firepower on offence to achieve that, rumours have now surfaced that they are looking at either Jake Debrusk or Brock Boeser of the Vancouver Canucks to help them with that.
“That being said, with the Vancouver Canucks looking to sell off their pending unrestricted free agents before the deadline in early March, there’s a chance that Patrik Allvin could receive a younger player or two as part of the returns.”-Jaxon
Jake Debrusk and Brock Boeser could be heading to a playoff team.
Dave Litman of NHL Trade Rumours reported on the possibility of either forward heading to Utah, to help through the gauntlet of a Western Conference run. Both Boeser and Debrusk have had miserable seasons, due in large part to how bad the team has been overall, and either of them could help a competitive team like the Mammoth with some added scoring.
“For DeBrusk, his name has been out there on the grapevine as a trade candidate. He was a healthy scratch for a game back at the end of December, and that’s when the buzz began. Since then, he has four goals and 11 points in 19 games, for a season total of 13 goals and 28 points. He’s now on pace for 19 goals and 41 points, down from last year’s 28-goal campaign in his first year in Vancouver, but not much different than in most of his career.”-Litman
The only issue is both players have a no-move clause, and Boeser has expressed his desire to stay in Vancouver, that leaves us with maybe Debrusk waiving his clause to go to a more competitive environment, and have a chance at some playoff hockey again. The Canucks would definitely explore the idea of trading both of them if they were to allow it.
