Buffalo Police say two men were taken into custody after a morning robbery left a victim bleeding from the head on West Delavan Avenue.

BUFFALO, N.Y. — Two Buffalo men were arrested Tuesday following a robbery on the city’s West Side.

Nicholas Forehand, 42, and John Peterson, 74, both of Buffalo, have both been charged with one felony count of criminal possession of a controlled substance; and one misdemeanor count of criminally using drug paraphernalia. Peterson was also charged with one felony count of assault.

The arrests come after Buffalo Police responded to a reported robbery on the city’s West Side that left a victim bleeding from the head.

Officers arrived at the scene — on the 300 block of West Delavan Avenue — shortly past 9 a.m. Tuesday. They found a man who said he had been struck with a crowbar during the course of a robbery.

Officers secured the scene, and detectives later obtained a search warrant. During the search that followed, officers said they recovered “approximately half a gram of suspected cocaine, a box of plastic bags, and a scale with white powder residue.”

Two other people at the scene were detained on outstanding warrants.

Carmelo Gonzales, 52, of Buffalo was detained on six outstanding warrants — one filed by Amherst Police, one by Buffalo Police, and four by the Erie County Sheriff’s Office.

Leigh Hidalgo, 33, of Buffalo was detained on three outstanding warrants — one filed by Amherst Police, one by Buffalo Police, and one by Orchard Park Police.

A search of the New York State electric court filing system showed that Forehand and Peterson appeared Wednesday morning in Buffalo City Court. Both have attorneys.
