Team USA hockey goalie unveils cool 2026 Winter Olympics mask

The Team USA hockey team has a lot of expectations for its time in Milan-Cortina during the 2026 Winter Olympics.

Their journey begins Thursday during a star-studded tournament that features some of the best athletes competing regularly in the NHL.

However, Team USA hockey has a major boost even before the competition begins. That comes after Dallas Stars goaltender Jake Oettinger’s stunning mask was revealed for the special event.

Team USA hockey will face off against Latvia on Thursday during the preliminary round before two more group games against Denmark and Germany. However, Oettinger’s fierce goaltender mask should have opponents shaking with its USA-inspired designs.

The Oettinger mask has been dubbed ‘The Freedom Ripper’ by NHL mask designer David Gunnarsson.

Oettinger has become one of the elite goalies in the NHL as the 27 year old is now in his sixth full season as a starter with the Western Conference franchise.

In 2025-26, Oettinger has posted a goals against average of nearly 2.59 per game as the Stars remain firmly in playoff contention in the Central Division and the Western Conference.

Team USA hockey boasts an incredibly talented squad that features players like Auston Matthews, Jack Hughes and J.T. Miller. The Americans currently have the second-best odds to capture the gold medal, trailing only Canada in the race for the top spot.
