Nearly 2,000 miles from Toyota Arena, Andre Lee made the Inland Empire proud while representing Ontario at the AHL All-Star festivities in Rockford, Illinois.

On Tuesday, Lee first took part in the puck control relay, where he and Utica Comets forward Brian Halonen kicked off the festivities, skating stride for stride in a tightly contested opening event.

Next, in a familiar event from years past, Lee competed in the accuracy shooting contest, knocking down all four targets on five attempts. An impressive showing, though he couldn’t quite surpass current Kings defenseman Brandt Clarke’s perfect 4-for-4 from a couple of years ago, all while famously sporting a black eye.

Finally, Lee faced Providence goaltender Michael DiPietro in the breakaway relay, but his backhand attempt was turned aside by DiPietro’s left pad.

When Wednesday arrived, it was time for the 3-on-3 round-robin tournament. Lee was held off the scoresheet in a Game 1 win over the North Division, but he made his mark in Game 2, netting what proved to be the game-winning goal.

With the victory, the Pacific also punched its ticket to the championship game. Talk about clutch — it’s been a recurring theme for Lee all season long.

Team Pacific was held quiet in Game 3, getting shut out 4-0 by the Central Division. This set up a rematch between the two squads in the championship game.

Although Lee didn’t do much in the championship game, the Pacific Division bounced back in impressive fashion, defeating the Central 3-1 to capture the AHL All-Star Challenge title.

Lee wrapped up his All-Star showing with one goal — the Game 2 winner that punched the team’s ticket to the championship. It’s the kind of line the Reign would love to repeat come playoff time.
