Juraj Slafkovsky’s game against Finland was already being described as magical, but a small change could be announced shortly.

As we know, official statistics at the Olympic Games are scrutinized closely, but an error may have slipped past the on-ice officials.

It was expert and scout Grant McCagg who raised the issue late in the day.

After carefully analyzing the video replay, McCagg noticed a surprising detail on one of Slovakia’s goals.

Let’s be honest, at full speed it was nearly impossible for the referees to see, but notice how (incredibly) Slafkovsky does practically everything on the play, without ever really touching the puck or barely at all!

“I would have given him an assist regardless, but I wasn’t sure Slaf ever touched the puck until I slowed it down. Looks like it hit his skate and changed direction while engaging with Aho.”

An unusual sequence involving Montreal Canadiens forward Juraj Slafkovsky

If a change is made official by the International Federation, Slafkovsky’s stat line will be adjusted slightly, but in any case, I want to emphasize just how absolutely incredible the young Montreal Canadiens forward’s performance was today.

He opened a lot of eyes with his performance.

Let’s call it like it is: Slafkovsky was everywhere on the ice, and even when you think he’s not involved, he finds a way to leave his mark.

He was the best player on the ice and he proved it with a historic performance.

“It’s a big win for us, but by Friday nobody will probably care anymore and we need to go into the next game as if nothing happened.”
