For this weekend’s 2026 NBA All-Star Weekend and NBA All-Star Game, we’ve learned a handful of league stars — including the Golden State Warriors’ veteran Steph Curry and Dallas Mavericks’ rookie Cooper Flagg will be sidelined for the weekend’s biggest events while nursing nagging injuries as they hope to get healthy for the rest of the season and the final run to the NBA post-season.

Why is Steph Curry sitting out the 2026 NBA All-Star Game?

Golden State Warriors star player Steph Curry will sit out the All-Star Game in Los Angeles this weekend because of lingering issues with his right knee, which has sidelined him for several games already this season. Curry is on pace to get healthy for the rest of the season, but needs this additional recovery time through the All-Star Weekend.

In Curry’s place, Toronto Raptors forward Brandon Ingram has been named to the USA Stripes team for the 2026 NBA All-Star Game. This marks Ingram’s second NBA All-Star selection, his first since the 2019-20 season.

Why is Cooper Flagg sitting out the 2026 NBA All-Star Rising Stars Game?

Cooper Flagg, star rookie for the Dallas Mavericks, was originally selected to participate in the NBA’s Castrol Rising Stars game during NBA All-Star Weekend. But he will now miss the game due to a left midfoot sprain. The injury reportedly occurred in the Maverick’s recent 120-111 loss at Phoenix, a game where Flagg scored 27 points and played 36 minutes on the floor. At just 19-years-old, Flagg recently set an NBA record for a teenager with four consecutive games of at least 30 points.

Flagg is one of two injured players affecting the Rising Stars game, with Alex Sarr of the Wizards also sitting out due to injury. The pair are being replaced by Utah Jazz forward Ace Bailey and Washington Wizards guard Bub Carrington.

The Castrol Rising Stars game is slated for 9 p.m. ET on Friday, February 13, streaming exclusively on Peacock. NBA All-Star Saturday is set for 5 p.m. ET on Saturday, airing on NBC and streaming on Peacock. The 75th NBA All-Star Game will wrap up the weekend on Sunday night at 5 p.m. ET, airing on NBC and streaming on Peacock.
