It sure feels like the Canadians and Americans are on a collision course for a Gold Medal matchup. And if they get there, both of the Avalanche’s top two centermen would have likely played significant roles for their nations.

At least that was the case on Thursday.

Team USA was dominant and set the tone from the start of their group match against Latvia. As their fourth-line center, Brock Nelson played a huge role in that.

Earlier in the day, Nathan MacKinnon found the back of the net in a one-sided Canadian victory over Martin Necas and Czechia. MacKinnon drove play on his line at five-on-five while also being a key piece of the star-studded Canada power play.
