FARGO — The USHL is moving its 11th annual Fall Classic, scheduled for Sept. 16-20, to the new Chicago Blackhawks training facility on the Windy City’s west side.

That means Fargo Force fans will have shorter travel to Chicago than its previous host in Cranberry Township, just outside Pittsburgh. The Fall Classic features the first two regular-season games for each of the 16 USHL teams.

The Blackhawks Ice Center in Chicago is a four-sheet facility that serves as the training home of the NHL’s Blackhawks. The Chicago Steel of the USHL will play at USG Arena.

“We are extremely excited to host our marquee, season-opening event in the new home of the Chicago Steel and the Chicago Blackhawks training facility,” said Glenn Hefferan, USHL president and commissioner, in a statement. “The Steel, Chicago Blackhawks, Blackhawks Ice Center, and the Amateur Hockey Association of Illinois (AHAI) will provide our players with great exposure for NCAA and NHL scouts in a major hockey hub, and shine a spotlight on players across top youth programs in North America.”

Our newsroom occasionally reports stories under a byline of “staff.” Often, the “staff” byline is used when rewriting basic news briefs that originate from official sources, such as a city press release about a road closure, and which require little or no reporting. At times, this byline is used when a news story includes numerous authors or when the story is formed by aggregating previously reported news from various sources. If outside sources are used, it is noted within the story.
