U.S hockey’s Kendall Coyne Schofield says motherhood fueled her Olympic comeback

The knockout round saw Team USA delivering *** TKO. The Americans routing the Italians here in Milan. The final score, 6-0. It was all America on the ice. Team USA 51 shots on goal. The Italians, they had just 5. Scoring twice for Team USA veteran player, Kendall Coyne Schofield. She gave birth to her first child. Just over 2 years ago, some questioned if she would return to form. She has, and it’s one of the proudest moments of her professional career. It’s *** reminder of the journey that it took to get here, to, to come back after giving childbirth, and, um, you know, just the, the sacrifice, the journey, the village that it took to get here. I think those that have have *** child knows it takes *** village to raise one. And so, um, I’ve had *** pretty incredible. Village that has helped me get here, get back here, um, so yeah, it’s, it’s, it’s special to have him here, but it’s also, you know, when I see him, just *** reminder of what it took to get back here. Kendall’s husband is retired longtime NFL offensive lineman Michael Scofield. When she announced she was going to be pregnant she was pregnant and going to have *** kid, you know, people are texting, oh, congrats, great career, great career, thinking her career is over, and you know, it’s like, no. I’m going to come back. She always says she didn’t want Drew to be the reason why she retired. She wants Drew to be the reason why she keeps playing, you know, and it’s just, it’s so special and, you know, seeing *** game like this where she has two goals and everything, it’s just, it’s the best thing in the world, you know, and he gets excited.
