Matthew Knies has been dealing with injury issues this season although hasn’t let it bother him too much, but a new report shows he’s not taking any chances.

Toronto Maple Leafs forward Matthew Knies has been a very solid piece to the lineup this season, and has shown a much more overall complete game when it comes to his offensive production.

Yes he’s still scoring goals but his playmaking has improved tremendously and his knack for finding the open man has saved Toronto more than a few times. Arguably a focal point of the team for the next decade, he’s a powerhouse who shifts the game in a lot of ways.

But his style of play also leads to some injury risks and with Knies, he’s been dealing with a knee issue that he hoped to have fixed by the end of the Olympic break.

Luckily for Maple Leafs fans and for Knies, he’s not only been able to get that rest, but he’s getting as much work as he can to make sure he’s prepared for the rest of the NHL season:

Knies was seen at Fix Medical Group in Scottsdale, Arizona to get some work done on his knee and was seen posing with physician Dr. Michael Jerez.

Toronto thankful Knies doesn’t need to pull double duty

It would be a big concern if the Maple Leafs had Knies playing in the Olympics for Team USA so it’s kind of a blessing he was passed over in favor of others; an injury during the tournament could have potentially ruined his season.

Knies, 23, has 46 points in 53 games this season (14 goals, 32 assists) while adding 111 hits and 21 PIM though is a minus-11 in 18:53 TOI.

For Toronto, they are going to need Knies to be as healthy as possible while also hoping that superstars like Auston Matthews and William Nylander don’t overwork themselves to the point of injury during the Olympics either.

It’s a delicate balance and with playoff aspirations in mind they truly can’t afford any setbacks especially a long-term injury to a star like Knies.

Thankfully he seems to be in good hands and if he’s able to be even better for Toronto than he had been? The Maple Leafs could look very dangerous the rest of the season.
