Canada captain Sidney Crosby became the country’s all-time leader in points at Olympics featuring NHL players with a second-period goal Sunday against France.
Crosby has two points so far in Canada’s preliminary-round matchup against the French, giving him 15 total points in his Olympic career. He came into Sunday’s contest one point behind Jarome Iginla at 14.
Crosby picked up his first point on a Cale Makar goal in the second, which came on the power play and gave Canada a 4-1 lead. Crosby then picked up Canada’s third goal of the frame to establish the new NHL player Olympic mark. NHL players have been present at the Olympics in 1998, 2002, 2006, 2010, 2014 and 2026.
Crosby had two points in Canada’s tournament-opening win over Czechia on Thursday and added a goal in their 5-1 win over Switzerland on Friday.
Canada’s 2026 men’s team has already won Group A and looks to lock up the No. 1 seed as they wrap up their showdown with France to close out group play.
