Power forward Tom Wilson received a game misconduct late in Canada’s rout of France for fighting.

Wilson and France’s Pierre Crinon got into a scuffle following a whistle as both players’ sticks and gloves were dropped before Crinon dragged Wilson to the ice.

Despite the ref’s attempt to break them up, Wilson managed to get up and tried to grab Crinon, but he didn’t appear to throw a punch in the incident.

Fighting is not allowed at the Olympics as both players received game misconducts. Additionally, automatic suspensions are not handed out for fighting, but the joint NHL-IIHF disciplinary committee can discuss further discipline if required.

According to TSN Hockey Insider Pierre LeBrun, this will not be the case for Wilson. He’ll be able to suit up for Canada’s quarter-final game on Wednesday.

Re: Tom Wilson, as per the rule book here there is no automatic suspension for fighting. But if the joint NHL-IIHF disciplinary committee saw something that it wanted to address, it could have. This was not the case in this instance. Wilson will get nothing further.
He can…

A few minutes earlier, Crinon shook up Canadian forward Nathan MacKinnon with a high hit behind Canada’s hit.
