On Family Day weekend, the Tkachuk brothers made a stop at Sesame Street during the 2026 Winter Olympic Games.

Ottawa Senators captain Brady Tkachuk and his brother, Matthew, a winger for the Florida Panthers, had a nice meet-up with Elmo, a furry Muppet from Sesame Street, during a break in the Games in Italy before Team USA closed out the preliminary round this weekend.

The interview was posted on all of Sesame Street’s social media channels and is worth a watch. Neither Brady nor Matthew appeared to be starstruck meeting one of the television show’s biggest stars.

Brady, who called it a “unique opportunity” to spend time with Elmo, and Matthew spent a few minutes answering questions and gave fans a glimpse of what life is like in the Athletes Village the Olympics where the two are rooming together.

“It’s been crazy so far. It’s been an absolute blast to be able to represent the red, white and blue,” Matthew told Elmo. “We’re actually on the same line right now, Elmo. I’m not sure you’ve been watching.”

Elmo, of course, was quick to point out that he’s a big fan.

“Yeah, definitely, you were amazing,” Elmo said.

The Tkachuks’ new furry pal with the orange nose wanted to know what happened when the brothers don’t get along in the room.

“Probably the biggest reason we don’t get along is because he snores like a madman,” Matthew said about Brady, while Elmo had a good laugh. “So, now I have to go to bed first, but other than it’s been great.”

Elmo chimed in that the scenario “kind of sounds like Bert and Ernie”, which also brought laughs from everybody.

He also played a game with Tkachuks and both claimed that they were Cookie Monsters when it came to having a treat.

Brady noted they’ve been having a great time.

“We’re roommates so that’s been a lot of fun,” Brady said. “It brings us back to when we were kids.”
