Florida Panthers forward Matthew Tkachuk drew assists on back-to-back second period goals in the United States win 5-1 over Germany at the Winter Olympics in Milano, Italy.

Tkachuk was credited with the seconday helper on Auston Matthews’ power-play goal at the 3:25 mark and then drew the primay assist on Brock Faber’s even-strength marker with 2:25 left in the frame.

He played 14:57, registered three shots on goal, took an unsportsmanlike conduct minor and finished the tilt with a plus-one rating as the Americans topped Group C with a perfect 3-0 record.

The United States will play the winner of the qualification playoff game between Sweden and Latvia in the quarterfinals.

Speaking of Latvia, they dropped a 4-2 decision to Denmark to finish at the bottom of Group C with a 1-2 record.

Uvis Balinskis logged a game-high 26:33 of ice time, put three shots on Frederik Andersen, took a hooking minor and finished with a minus-two rating.

Sandis Vilmanis played 14:56, registered three shots on goal, took a hooking minor and finished the tilt with an even rating.

Sam Reinhart and Sam Bennett drew the assists on Bo Horvat’s third period goal in Canada’s 10-2 rout of France. It was the first point of the tournament for each Panther.

Reinhart logged 14:28 of ice time, registered three shots on goal and finished with a plus-one rating.

Bennett won four of his seven faceoffs, posted a plus-one rating and played 9:19 in the win as Canada finished on top of Group A with a 3-0 record.

The Canadians will play the winner of the qualification playoff game between Czechia and Denmark in the quarterfinals.
