Auston Matthews and Team USA vs. William Nylander and Team Sweden headline the Olympics knockout round while Canada and Czechia face off yet again.
The United States and Sweden lead the knockout stage of the 2026 Olympics men’s hockey tournament in a battle between the Leafs representatives at the Olympic games.
William Nylander scored and had an assist in a 5-1 win in the qualifying playoff over Latvia that sent Sweden into a match against the USA.
Nylander scored the fifth and final goal for the Swedes to put home the victory for Latvia, and Detroit’s Lucas Raymond leading the way with three assists.
Sweden’s loss to Finland in the group round placed them seventh in the tournament, putting them up against the Americans on Wednesday in a highly anticipated affair.

We will re-seed for the semifinals
Finland, who finished second in Group B ahead of Sweden, takes on Switzerland. Group B winners Slovakia take on Germany.
Canada, who finished first in group A, will take on Czechia in the quarterfinals. Canada defeated Czechia 5-0 in their opening game.
The Canadians shutout the Czechia side 5-0 in the first game of the preliminary round, and will likely have Brad Marchand on the ice as he is available after a two-game healthy scratch.
Though you can never count the Czechia team out, the Canadians have been very dominant thus far and if Connor McDavid, Sidney Crosby, and Macklin Celebrini keep up their pace it’s going to be hard to stop them.
Canada and Czechia play on Wednesday at 10:40 AM ET.
