Team USA is back in the men’s ice hockey quarterfinals at the Milan Cortina Olympics, looking to avenge itself after losing to Slovakia in the quarterfinals of the 2022 Beijing Olympics. This year, with NHL players in tow, the U.S. earned the second seed to secure a bye, posting a 3-0 record in the group stage. On Thursday, they’ll take on Team Sweden, which overtook Latvia in the qualification playoff on Tuesday, 5-1, with 28 shots on goal.

The men’s hockey semifinals are set for Friday at 10:40 a.m. and 3:20 p.m. ET. The winners will then compete for gold on Sunday, Feb. 22, on the final day of the Games.

After an undefeated run throughout the group stage, the U.S. men’s hockey team will take the ice again on Wednesday in the quarterfinals. They’ll take on Sweden, who beat Latvia 5-1 in a qualification round game on Tuesday.

Men’s hockey beat Germany 5-1 after a slow start on Sunday to wrap up the group stage action, though they were far less dominant than they could have been. Sweden entered Milan as a medal favorite, too, and only lost their group due to a goal differential. Wednesday’s match looks like it’ll be far from easy for the Americans.
