The medal round of the men’s 500 meter short track in speedskating is underway — and we already know that Team USA will not be represented on the podium here.
Canada’s Steven DuBois and Netherlands’ Teun Boer took first and second, respectively, in the first quarterfinal, advancing to the next round while Team USA’s Andrew Heo, the only American to qualify for the medal round, finished fourth and was eliminated.
DuBois and Boer are joined in the semifinal round by Jens van ‘t Wout (Netherlands), Shaoang Liu (China), William Dandjinou (Canada), Pietro Sighel (Italy), Melle van ‘t Wout (Netherlands), Félix Pigeon (Poland), Maxime Laoun (Canada) and Denis Nikisha (Kazakhstan).
