The Buffalo Sabres returned to practice Wednesday for the first time in over a week due to the Olympic break.

Head coach Lindy Ruff stressed the practice was more about conditioning and compete.

Forwards Josh Norris and Josh Dunne were on the ice in non-contact jerseys.

Goaltender Ukko-Pekka Luukkonen, who was injured before the break and kept from competing for Finland at the Olympics, skated and is “within days” of joining the team, according to Ruff.

The team will find out if forward Zach Benson will return soon, and there is no time frame for forward Jordan Greenway’s return, Ruff said.

The Sabres were without forward Tage Thompson and defenseman Rasmus Dahlin, who are participating in the Olympics for the U.S. and Sweden, respectively.

Their next game is Wednesday, Feb. 25, against the Devils in New Jersey.
