Team Slovakia are two wins away from securing the gold medal at the Milano Cortina Winter Olympics. It was obvious that they needed Juraj Slafkovsky from the Montreal Canadiens to step up and he delivered. However, the whole team acknowledged that they would not be in the position to go up against Team USA at the semifinals if a certain young gun was not playing his heart out — Dalibor Dvorsky of the St. Louis Blues.

St. Louis Slovak goes nuts at Milano Cortina

As of the moment, Dvorsky is currently the second-best scorer for Slovakia. Slafkovsky leads the way with his seven points but an extreme effort from the Blues youngster could help him usurp that. Prior to their semifinal clash against Team USA, he has scored three goals while also dishing out three assists.

There were not many fans in the NHL who expected him to perform like this. But, his teammates in Slovakia did, via Shawn Roarke of NHL.com.

“I just keep telling him, ‘Keep shooting and good things will happen.’ He is something special and I am happy that he is showing it,” Pospisil said. “Some guys, they score goals or get a lot of points and they go too high. He seems like a straight line, not too low, too high. He is just doing his job, and he is pretty good at it,” Martin Pospisil of the Calgary Flames said about the 20-year-old.

Even Colton Parayko, a Team Canada defenseman could not believe how great of an Olympics the Blues forward is having.

“He’s a guy who prepares the right way. He’s always ready to play. I’m just happy to see him doing extremely well. Great for him, happy for him, and looking forward to more success for him,” the Canadian veteran and Dvorsky’s Blues teammate declared.

Dvorsky is also starting to find his groove in the NHL. While playing center for the Blues in 47 games, he has managed to score nine goals and notch six assists. Hopefully, he is able to get more minutes from Coach Jim Montgomery. Tampa Bay Lightning and Slovakia’s Erik Cernak certainly made the case for Dvorsky to get that playing time when asked about him.

“Overall, his game is great. He’s playing in St. Louis and eventually he’s going to get more minutes and be an even better player,” Dvorsky’s Team Slovakia and Lightning defenseman proclaimed.

Team USA is the main focus in Dvorsky’s mind right now. Will he be able to prevent the Americans from replicating the Miracle on Ice?
