The LA Kings Valley Ice Center is a local, multi-rink community facility in Panorama City that features a main public rink and a smaller secondary rink for specialized activities. As General Manager Michael Santiago says, “At the LA Kings Valley Ice Center, our mission is simple: to create a welcoming, family-friendly environment where everyone, from first-time skaters to competitive athletes, feels at home on the ice.”

The two rinks draw a range of skaters, from children who don’t know how to skate to adults who are competing in the center’s hockey leagues. “Beyond leagues and lessons,” he said, “we offer specialty sessions like Freestyle, Stick Time, and Learn to Curl with Hollywood Curling Club, giving our community unique opportunities to grow and try something new.”

Donna Hensley runs and owns the Sk8 Academy, one of the Learn to Skate programs offered at the LA Kings Valley Ice Center. Hensley says, “Watching our skaters grow from their first glide to confident turns is what makes the Learn to Skate program special. It’s more than lessons — it’s a community where every student feels supported and inspired.”

LA Kings Valley Ice Center, or LAKVIC, followed the closure of older San Fernando Valley rinks, such as the North Hollywood Ice Chalet that shut its doors after the 1994 Northridge earthquake. LAKVIC was built as a modern replacement to bring skating back to the area.

Santiago says, “At the end of the day, LA Kings Valley Ice Center is about community. We’re building more than athletes — we’re building character, friendships, and memories that last a lifetime.”
