The intrigue and worry have not abated, but there was a glimmer of hope for both Canadians and the Pittsburgh Penguins Friday morning in Milan.
Sidney Crosby skated privately to test his injured leg or knee.
According to TSN reporter Ryan Rishaug, Crosby skated privately to test his leg. Rishaug tweeted that Crosby remains doubtful for Canada’s semifinal match against Team Finland, but he has not yet been ruled out.
Updated: Canada announced Crosby will not play Friday. Trainers even tried to make a special brace.
On Crosby: heard Team Canada and everyone around him did everything humanly possible for him to play — including searching for/putting together a custom brace.
Unfortunately, he can’t go in the semifinal. https://t.co/E1IgWAKdrK

Crosby, 38, was injured in the quarterfinal against Czechia after one particular shift in which the Czechians, specifically defenseman Radko Gudas, targeted him physically. Crosby was likely injured on the initial entanglement at center ice when he say Gudas attempting an open ice hit and attempted to slow to avoid it. The pair tangled as Gudas largely missed the hit.
Moments later, Czechia forward David Kampf and Gudas sandwiched Crosby with a hit along the wall in the offensive zone. Crosby took a stride and turned for the bench.
This season for the Penguins, Crosby has 59 points (27-32-59) in 56 NHL games. He has missed only two games over the last four NHL seasons.
