Connor McDavid was born on January 13, 1997, in Richmond Hill, Ontario. He started skating at a very young age and practiced on outdoor rinks near his home. Growing up, he looked up to Sidney Crosby and wanted to follow the same path.McDavid played minor hockey with the Toronto Marlboros and quickly stood out. He later joined the Erie Otters in the Ontario Hockey League. From 2013 to 2015, he scored 285 points in 106 games, even while dealing with injuries. In 2015, he was drafted first overall by the Edmonton Oilers and signed his entry-level contract days later.
