Oilers vs Stars tied 1-1 as Western Conference final heads to Edmonton for Game 3 (Image Source: Getty Images) The Western Conference Final is tied up going into Game 3 in Edmonton on Sunday afternoon. Oilers forward Zach Hyman said even though they won Game 2, they might have played better in Game 1 the game they did lose.Dallas Stars head coach Pete DeBoer also appeared to concur, at least from his club’s point of view. He believed the Stars played well enough in Game 2 to deserve a better result.
Zach Hyman said we were better in Better in Game 1
Zach Hyman, one of Edmonton’s most dependable players this postseason, was candid in his view of the series thus far. While the Oilers won game two, he said overall in the first game, the Oilers did a better job of dictating play.”We played more effectively in the first game,” Hyman conceded. “It was more tight, more organized, but we didn’t get the win. That’s the way it happens sometimes.”The Oilers lost the first game in double overtime after leading at the end of the third period. They rebounded in Game 2 with a victory, with good goaltending and timely offense but they realize there is still room for improvement. Also Read: Zach Hyman’s Game-Winning Goal Pushes Edmonton Oilers To A Record Comeback Victory Over Golden Knights In Game 1
Pete DeBoer displeased with a lost opportunity
Conversely, Dallas Stars head coach Pete DeBoer wasn’t pleased with the way Game 2 went. Although his team lost, he believed they had their opportunity and might have tied the series at home.”That’s the playoffs,” DeBoer added. “Sometimes you play great and don’t win. It’s a missed opportunity, but it’s also an extended series.” Dallas has been steady on the road this postseason, so going into Edmonton doesn’t intimidate them. But losing home-ice advantage was a setback one they will attempt to rebound from in a hurry. With the series deadlocked 1-1, all eyes now turn to Game 3 at Rogers Place in Edmonton. Both teams believe they’ve played good hockey, but only one can gain momentum as the series moves toward the crucial middle stretch. The puck drop is Sunday afternoon, with fans anticipating another physical and gritty battle between two Western powerhouses.
