During the tournament, there was a bit of mystery surrounding what was wrong with the Winnipeg Jets‘ defenseman.
Now, though, it turns out it wasn’t very good.
Morrissey is expected to miss “a good chunk of time,” according to TSN’s Darren Dreger.

It’s an upper-body injury, but more specifics aren’t known at this time.
All that Jets head coach Scott Arniel has said so far is that Morrissey won’t play on Wednesday against the Vancouver Canucks.

Morrissey still has to be evaluated by team doctors, according to Arniel.
The Jets are obviously a very different team when Morrissey doesn’t play. He’s averaging 24 minutes and 37 seconds of ice time per game this season. It’s hard to replace that.

The Jets are already in trouble in the playoff picture, and if Morrissey has to miss extended time, that could be the final nail in the coffin.
This news does affirm why Canada didn’t get Morrissey back at any point in time at the Olympics. He was apparently hurting pretty good.
