Winnipeg Jets

Defenceman Josh Morrissey has been moved to the injured reserve list, it was announced Tuesday.

The move is retroactive to Feb. 12 and comes after the veteran blueliner suffered an upper-body injury in Canada’s Olympic opener against Czechia roughly two weeks ago.

Defenceman Kale Clague has been recalled from the AHL’s Manitoba Moose in a corresponding move.

The 30-year-old Morrissey was hopeful to return for Canada’s gold medal game against the U.S. on Sunday but was held out, along with Canada captain Sidney Crosby because of a lower-body injury. Canada fell 2-1 in overtime and was forced to settle for the silver medal.

It was the second straight year of hard luck for the Calgary native, who was forced to miss Canada’s 4 Nations Face-Off final against the U.S. because of an illness.

Morrissey has 10 goals and 32 assists for 42 points in 56 games so far this season for Winnipeg.

Clague, 27, has eight goals and 21 points in 44 games for the AHL’s Manitoba Moose in 2025-26. He has not played a game at the NHL level yet this season.

Toronto Maple Leafs

Toronto Maple Leafs forward John Tavares is not practising Tuesday because of the flu, the team announced.

The Leafs resume their regular-season schedule Wednesday in Tampa against the Lightning.

Tavares has 20 goals and 27 assists in 52 games so far this season for Toronto.

Meanwhile, forward Auston Matthews’ status for Wednesday’s game in Tampa is unclear as players on the gold medal-winning American team celebrate their Olympic triumph in Washington, D.C Tuesday.

According to TSN Hockey Insider Chris Johnston, Matthews will rejoin the Leafs Wednesday but it’s up in the air if he will play.

New York Islanders

The Islanders have acquired forward Matt Luff from the St. Louis Blues in exchange for forward Julien Gauthier, it was announced Tuesday morning.

Luff, 28, has one goal in five NHL games so far this season. He also has 14 goals and 25 assists for 39 points in 42 AHL contests with the Springfield Thunderbirds.

Gauthier, a former first-round pick of theCarolina Hurricanesin 2016, has not yet appeared in an NHL game in 2025-26, playing one game for the Isles last season. He has five goals and seven points in 14 AHL games this year for the Bridgeport Islanders.

Dallas Stars

The Stars have recalled goaltender Remi Poirier from the AHL’s Texas Stars, it was announced Tuesday.

The 24-year-old has not yet appeared in a game at the NHL level this season but has a 2.74 goals against-average and a .906 save percentage in 34 games so far this season in the AHL.

Buffalo Sabres

The Sabres have recalled forward Anton Wahlberg from the AHL’s Rochester Americans, it was announced Tuesday.

The 20-year-old has six goals and 25 points in 47 games so far this season in the AHL.
