The host, Sweden, took care of business against Nikolaj Ehlers and Denmark early in the morning hours. The Winnipeg Jets’ star pending unrestricted free agent scored once but the Danes’ two goals was not enough for Sweden’s strong start.
Mikael Backlund and Marcus Johanson each scored twice for the Swedes, which also got goals from Lucas Raymond and Mika Zibanejad in the affair.
Nino Niederreiter (two gaols) and the Swiss took down Ehlers’ Danes on Saturday 7-0 to propel themselves to the final against the United States, which is looking to snap its lengthy curse of 92 years without a gold medal win at the tournament.
The gold medal game will take place at 1:00 PM central on Sunday afternoon.
